Christmas time

Spotlight

So its Christmas, its snowing and everyone is celebrating the birth of some guy called Santa. Oh no hang on I think I am getting mixed up a bit there. But anyway enough of Bono and co, Mariah, X crapper and Cliff; lets here some of the best alternative Xmas songs out there.

On audio with have the fantastic Grave Architects who used to put on these amazing shows each year called Christmas Covers where they got some great bands together to play 2 covers to an incredibly drunkard crowd. I have added their own ‘Christmas Song’ for your aural pleasure, but you can see a great example of their covers here

You can also check out the Brute Chorus’s fantastic ‘(This Christmas) Bury Me In Hawaii’ a great song, which is getting a lot of love on Radio 6 at the moment!

The video attached is by Man Like Me – a very recent song which I think is spot on! This band are going to be everywhere is 2011, and its about time too!

Merry Christmas everyone and a very happy new year!!

Danger Beach

Danger Beach
Canberra AUS based punk / surf instrumentalist producer Danger Beach is another of genuinely interesting and ground breaking artists coming out of australia at the moment.   Indeed, our radars have been picking up plenty of new and exciting aussie music as too have the BBC's who have picked Naked and Famous as one of their bands to watch for 2011. Anyway, this is gorgeous stuff, check out Apache for a new take on an old school genre, not exactly a festive tip, but hopefully it will warm your cockles.
