Irregular music night Everybody Loves Mary returns to Finsbury Park’s Silver Bullet this Friday, and may be one of the few places you can escape part-time Scots celebrating Burns Night and spewing neeps and tatties all over the place. Hoo Ha’s, James Valentine, Reverend & The Beast, Dana McKeown and Chris Yendell are all on the bill, though after seeing the above video recently we’re most excited about seeing the freaky dancing of Francobollo (hopefully he brings his big-lipped basketball with him). Excitingly, the secret headline DJ is alluded to have had a number one hit in 2012. Psy, is it you?

The Brute Chorus, Velcro Hooks & more... (Artrocker New Blood Festival)
While The Brute Chorus have probably been around a little too long to be truly considered 'new blood', they're so good live that you can see why Artrocker has chosen them to headline the final night of their New Blood Festival which has been tearing up Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen over the last week or so. Featuring the best moustaches in London, the band make energetic rock and roll of the "impossible-to-stand-still-to" variety, managing to throw increasingly ludicrous shapes while still sounding entirely authentic. They're easily worth the entry fee on their own, but Artrocker have generously added another three acts for your delectation, with Crows, Velcro Hooks and Hank Haint completing the bill. Velcro Hooks have been particularly widely earmarked as one to watch for 2013, so it'll be particularly interesting to see how they perform. Either way, it promises to be a Brute-iful experience...
