Ani DiFranco’s upcoming album, What Side Are You On?, is her 17th studio album and her first in three years. ‘Life Boat’ opens the record and is a mellow acoustic number with a lot of heart, and in a world of alt folk artists galore there’s an authenticity to DiFranco’s performance which overshadows many of the current crop.
