Spotlight

I am a huge fan of the tv series and since the middle of 2004, I have been checking on the world wide web ever hour of every day to see if any comebacks were planned. To my enjoyment I was amazed to see that the characters had all got together to form a band.

Fortunately this is not true, however there is a great band called Friends who have an incredible NYC cool, sexy sound; something that has been demonstrated before by acts such as Hundred in the Hands and Phenomenal Handclap Band. Put nicely by Stereogum “ESG-style polyrhythmic post-disco on a tropical-pop trip, with some Lykke Li in the mix ”

Check out their latest single (debut was release in UK in March by UK label Lucky Numbers)

Koan Sound

Koan Sound
Bristol based dubstep duo KOAN Sound are on Skrillex's label OWSLA, and their release Funk Blaster was out on November 1st. Skrillex was one of the founders complextro which is a mash up electro complex deep basslines and dubstep sounds. They take this genre and add a bit of electro synth to it, giving the dubstep vibe a bit more fun. When it wants to it gets pretty heavy, at the same time as being melodic. You can see the Ed Sheeran remix (as much as I am not a fan of his, this remix is pretty damn good) here which helped get the guys in the public eye. Mr Brown is available to stream but listen to tracks such as the Edge, and Trouble in the West (think of a dubstep Rage Against Machines) for heavier stuff.
