HIghlife. Good name for a feelgood band, mixing african guitars (a la vampire weekend) with percussion, a hint of naive folk jangles… warm and happy vocals from Sleepy Doug Shaw, New York Resident and friends with the likes of Gang Gang Dance, Animal Collective and Black Dice.
Definitely hanging in the right circles and just released his first EP, which has been very well received by all the right people, i get the feeling we’ll be hearing and seeing more of Highlife, though perhaps a little too late for this years festival scene.
