Coke Airs Anti-Obesity Advert

Tech & Branding

‘I’ll have a box of chicken nuggets, a large chips, 3 chicken wings, an apple pie… oh and a Diet Coke.’ We have all heard something similar in our local takeaway but tonight Coke will be going even further to combat obesity with the launch of their new ‘Coming Together’ campaign. The ad showcases Coke Zero and details the amount of calories found in a can of Coca-Cola.

The ad feels like a ham handed attempt at changing the brands bogeyman image. At one point they mention how they have made portion sizes smaller for their most popular drinks to help combat obesity, this presumably also had the entirely unintended affect of vastly increasing profits. On the plus side many of their drinks are now calorie free and the advert raises awareness of the benefits of a balance between exercise and diet. What do you think of the campaign?

Shazam for TV advertising is going to become our primary revenue stream very quickly." Bully for them. Us?
