We’ve already waxed lyrical about Dooks’ incredible Goldsmiths Sessions EP, so on the happy occasion of this exclusive premiere of the beautiful black and white video for ‘The Mellow’, we thought we’d let her do the talking.

Take it away Dooks…

I’m often asked how many songs I’ve written. I reply: none. Is Dooks a solo artist? I say no. A song is never finished and music is never a lone endeavour, there is no such thing as a solo artist. This video we share is a collaboration between myself, the team at Goldsmiths studio and editor, Matt Barton. Not forgetting of course, you. The audience, the listener.

I know in the virtual, you cannot smell my city-drenched clothes and your breath did not dictate my metronome. But, I hope, we have captured something for you here. Sometimes I feel that to sing a song from start to finish can seem somewhat of a redundant art. To really listen to a song from start to finish can feel the same. So I ask, in an age of widespread attention deficit disorder; stay on the tab, silence the phone and take 5. (Minutes that is, not seconds).
