Spotify is hoping to boost the amount of free music it offers on its mobile service; if this goes ahead, it’s likely to significantly increase on-the-go music streaming. The company has already started negotiations with Warner Music and will begin talks with Sony and Universal in the coming weeks –  they will be pushing labels to lower costs in order to offer the free service. This could affect the incomes of both artists and record companies negatively, however it may be welcomed by music fans who are becoming increasingly accustomed to listening to music for free.
