Although Fran Barker is a young musician hailing from Brighton, she is one helluva talent. We saw Seerauber Jenny playing at the infamous Bull & Gate in Kentish Town and my god, she is brilliant. She has real good banter with the audience and with her band and thank bejaysus, DOES NOT conform to the pressures of having to look like how twenty-somethings in this industry are supposed to look like: ridiculously skinny, flashing acres of flesh and lip-glossingly-lip-syncing to songs they haven’t written. It’s refreshing to watch and hear young talent and especially watching young women play the geee-tarrrr! YES!
Fran writes all her own songs, sings and plays guitar like someone who has played forever. This is a great track. You can hear the bag load of fuzzy influences like Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine in her writing.
Watch out for Seerauber Jenny. Coming to a town near you buster!!
