Tom Jones is back with a new record in which he’s put aside the loud and bravado performances, in place for it is a fantastic folky autumnal sound that will appeal to a much wider audience. After Marling and Mumford etc, the whole country has gone, well, country! Rumours have it that the Island Records chief excec didn’t like the album and nearly stopped it from being released. But then it leaked on the Internet and there was no way back. Well well i’m glad it did - its a great album full drenched in blues and southern soul and sits comfortably along the Johnny Cash’s American series of back-to-the-roots albums.
