Taking their name from the brilliant Pavement song Grave Architecture, this quartet that have many disguises and appear together in other bands such as the Christmas Gang, Gold Sounds, After the Fox and probably some others that I am unaware of. Any how these guys put some great humour into their little bit garage rock, little bit country, sound. Not only are the lyrics a bit tongue in cheek but the route that the songs take and their progressions, including old school rapping, full male choirs, and fitting in a multitude of genres in a 4 minute song. Fantastically catchy poppy licks matched with fun ryhtmns and very interesting structures that keep you excited and never bored.

The band formerly from Nottingham and now residing in London have won a competition. Not just any competition but a competition that helped defeat X Factor and Simon Cowell to hand Rage Against Machine a Christmas number 1 and homeless charities a hell of a lot of money. Yes Storm the Charts campaign has asked the people who do they next want to get to number one, and the public have spoken. They have chosen The Grave Architects and their song about bikes. Bikes? Yes bikes, a silly subject, a silly song and a silly video – with a great tune behind it, every ingredient for a number one – just look at N Dubz (it is meant to be funny right?). Have a listen and watch the video, and if you want to help a band with a grass roots campaign, go to Amazon and buy the track (only 49p!)

if you really like it you can download it up to 3 times to help them out!

As George from the band says “Some people might say ‘don’t be RIDICULOUS, George.  You have no major label backing, zero marketing budget, the song’s too long, the video’s not slick enough, your drumming’s rubbish and you’re too old now and not good looking enough blah blah blah’.

Now lets make a little history

Grave Against the Machine Motherfunsters!”

To stream you can enjoy a song which feels like a commentary on my thoughts. They have many great songs, so I do suggest buying the track so we can hear a lot more from these future heroes!
