In a nutshell, Wailing Wall is the avent-folk mash of multi-instrumentalist Jesse Rifkin, the son of a pair of west coast hippies who had met at a Siddha Yoga ashram in Cali. This heritage was mixed with his Jewish roots and, when related to his music, as an influence, has really generated something quite unique, and really rather good.
Off the wall, yes, strange, unique and captivating too, you are almost overwhelmed by the pure enthusiasm and mess, but from this comes a clear and distinctive sound that grows, in its kind of off-kitler chant-folk oddness. Its good i think, and i like it, what do you think?
Well, whatever you think, there is no doubt that he is keeping good company and the man will surely be showing up on some interesting bills in the near future…
